Wanhua and Monga

{In which I visit Wanhua District with John and Mavis}

After going to the Flora Expo with John, his friend Mavis arrived and took us to historical 萬華區 (Wanhua District), the oldest district in Taipei.

It was an amazing place to take photos — lots of character — and in fact, we saw a couple taking engagement photos there. The brick walls were especially awesome.

The 2010 Taiwanese mafia film, 艋舺 (Monga), was filmed here. I've never seen it, but later John told me he watched it on his flight back to China. He said the movie was so-so, but it was cool to be able to recognize the places we visited.

Basically, I had a great time wandering around, taking photos and modeling. XD Thanks, Mavis, for being a great photographer! :D

With all these recent posts with John in them, you must be tired of looking at his face, right? I know I am. :P Anyway, these should be the last ones until the next time I see him, whenever that happens to be. He did visit Taiwan again in early April (and told me he thought I look like Serena Williams — what?! — and about his fondness for anti-heroes, ew) but the lighting wasn't good so I won't be posting those photos.

I know this post is light on exposition, but each picture is worth a thousand words, right? If you really want something to read, I wrote an epic post about Sinbad and Proteus and why I don't like anti-heroes. If you haven't read it yet, go check it out!

love,
linda
